It Takes Hard Work

It is well to fly towards the light, even where there may be some fluttering and bruising of wings against the windowpanes, is it not?- Elizabeth Barrett Browning

So how did I get from this beautiful quote to it takes hard work?  Well my mind works in some very odd ways, lol. When I was picking out the quotes for the week, I came across this one and honestly, I just thought it was pretty.  I didn’t think about what it meant at all.  And then last night I started writing a post that I trashed about how you have to help yourself.  It wasn’t coming together for me thought, so I gave up.  This morning, when I was posting the quote on instagram, it all came together for me.

it takes hard workTo me, this quote is talking about making a  better life for yourself, that’s the moving toward the light.  But self-improvement is hard work.  You can’t just think you want things to change or get better and poof, it’s going to happen.  It takes effort on your part, and it takes hard work.  That’s where the bruising of wings comes in.

Now, as you know, I’m a huge believer in the Law of Attraction.  There are those who feel that with the Law of Attraction, all you have to do is put out to the universe and you’ll get it.  So if you want to improve yourself, you just say “I want to improve myself,” and poof, it happens.  Man I only wish it happened that way.  I’d be a size five, I’d have millions of dollars and the love of my soulmate for all eternity, all without any effort on my part.

What you have to do is set your intention, firmly, and believe it with all your heart, and then you start doing your part.  Say you want to become a published author.  Set your intention of becoming a published author.  Put it out there to the universe.  Then believe with all your heart that it’s going to happen.  See your book in the stores, and on Amazon.  See your name on all the best seller lists, heck even see yourself being interviewed on Ellen Degeneres’s  show being interviewed about your book. But you’re not done yet. You have to actually WRITE the book. Yes, you have to work at it.  Same goes for anything else you may want to have in your life.  It takes hard work.

So what if you want to work on the inside? Maybe change your thoughts, or let go of a relationship that isn’t serving you any longer?  There are tons of books to read, there are support groups, there is therapy or even facebook groups where you can talk with other people who are working on the same things you are working on or you can find a life coach. There are plenty of great life coaches out there.  I can suggest Nicole Amaturo. She is warm and caring, and a very genuine person. She also has some self-paced courses available on her website, which are amazing. But in the end, it’s up to you. You can turn your life around, you can make any changes you want in your life.  It just takes two things, it takes a strong belief, and it takes hard work.
