It’s Okay to Let Go

Some of us think holding on makes us strong; but sometimes it is letting go. – Hermann Hesse

it's okay to let goWhen something isn’t working, it’s okay to let go.  Letting go is different than quitting.  When you let go, you try, evaluate, try again, re-evaluate, make changes, try again, until eventually you realize that what you are trying isn’t feasible right now.  That’s when you make the conscious choice to let go.

Quitting, or giving up is usually done in a heightened emotional state.  Think temper tantrum.  I’ve seen myself literally stomping my foot on the ground shouting, “I can’t do this anymore,” or “I quit,” or “I give up!”  It’s temper pure and simple that makes me (and others) act that way.

It’s okay to let go, because sometimes, no matter how much you want something to work, it just isn’t going to and there isn’t anything you can do about it.  When you have to let go, take a deep breath, and acknowledge the fact that you tried.  Congratulate yourself on a job well done, because if you’ve tried your hardest, that is a job well done.  And then let go.  It’s okay to let go, and sometimes it’s all we can do.
