Be a Builder, not a Destroyer

Sorry there were no blog posts last week  – it was a crazy week.  I’m taking two classes this summer and they started Monday (and they’re very challenging, but I’ve got this) and I also started a new online business.  Money made will go toward paying for the Daily Positive Thought mailing list so that we can send out positive thoughts EVERY DAY instead of combining them.  I’ll tell you more about it at the end of this post.

We all have this amazing power inside of us – it’s a power we can apply to ourselves, and to others.  That power is support. Think about a parent with a child, or a teacher with a student, or yourself with your friends.  You are kind, and supportive.  You cheer on their ideas, help, nurture and care.  In short, you are there for them.  Very seldom, if ever I hope, will you hear a teacher say “Johnny, I can’t believe you got it wrong, you are so dumb.”  Nor would you say to your best friend, “Oh, she’ll never like you, you’re nothing but a big fat lump.”

Now think about yourself, how often do you support yourself like that?  Probably never.  That pesky inner voice of ours tends to tear us down, and belittle us.  We use our power for evil on ourselves!  Why?  Why don’t we support ourselves and cheer ourselves on the way we do other people.  Use that strength, that inner power for good and support yourself.  Cheer yourself on!

Ok now on to my new business.  I’m quite excited to become an It Works! independent distributor. The Benefits of Yoga and Thinking Positive

Hi Everyone,

I’m looking for opinions here.  As you know, I’m always looking for ways to think positive and improve my mental health.  I am also looking for ways to improve my physical health.  I’ve been looking at yoga as a way to combine these two things.  Do any of you practice yoga, and do you think these two things will work together.  Please share your thoughts, opinions and information in the comment section.  I’d LOVE to hear what you think.

On Being Positive

I love the first of the year.  Facebook is full of bright and shiny resolutions and positive thoughts and posts.  There are positivity groups popping up all over the place.  It’s nice to see.  Really it is.  It will be interesting to re-evaluate in March and see how active those groups are and read the posts of people to see just how positive they are.

I’m not being critical or judgmental.  I really hope that the trends lasts all year and it becomes a habit for everyone.  What I’d like to see, instead of all the cat memes and what decade are you quizzes are positivity memes.

Maybe it’s something we can work on together.

Things have been mighty quiet here on the website portion of Think Positive 30.  I’ve been using this summer to reflect upon a lot of things, and to make some plans.

I’m always looking for ways to bring a smile to my face, because when you’re smiling and happy, you are more positive.  I’m also always thinking of ways I can bring a smile to others for the exact same reason.

Well, I’ve come up with something, and I think it is going to be amazing.  Hopefully you all will think it is amazing as well.  Stay tuned, because once things get put in motion, it’s going to happen fast.

How can self belief help you to be Extraordinary?

 

As we move into 2013, I find myself thinking a lot about the power of self belief. Our self belief impacts upon everything that we are and everything that we do. People with true self belief can go anywhere and do anything. People with false self belief, or bravado, often just pretend they can.

 

Can you remember a time when you truly believed in yourself, felt good about who you were and what you could do? A time when you felt really positive? Even if it was only for a brief moment, can you remember how you felt and what you believed?

 

For me one of those times was when my daughter, Imogen, was born. I remember standing in the hospital room at around 2.30 am holding this precious little bundle in my arms and looking out across the skyline. I had an enormous sense of well being and purpose. I felt ready to face into the rest of my life and create possibilities for me and my family. I believed that I had reached a point where I was ready to be me and that I could truly change the world. At that very moment nothing was impossible. That memory still fills me with the same positivity 12 years on and at some of my most difficult times since, I have used it to sustain me. I often ask myself what that version of me, at that time in my life, with positivity and self belief, would do today.

 

Positivity and Self Belief says: This is the life I’m living. This is the life I want to be living. Here are some obstacles that are getting in the way. Let’s figure out how I’m going to get around them!

 

Negativity and Lack of Self Belief says: This is me. I am stuck. Here are all the reasons why I can’t change…

 

The difference between us feeling powerful and powerless is all about our self belief. Believing in yourself doesn’t guarantee that you will always succeed – but your energy will be different, how you feel will be different, your ability to handle everything that happens in your life will be different.

 

Think back to a day or a time when you felt great and had real self belief.

 

What did it feel like and how did you behave?

 

What was possible?

 

What could you do today with that feeling to make your life Extraordinary?

An Invitation to You

Think Positive 30 started on Live Journal. A friend and I decided to try and post at least one positive thought a day in our journals. I thought it was a great idea and created a Live Journal Community so that others would have an opportunity to do the same.  The community was created, and pretty much nothing happened.  A few of my friends and myself would post our positive thoughts and comment on the positive thoughts of others.  Then Live Journal featured Think Positive 30 as a Spotlight community and things went crazy.  Hundreds of people were posting every day.  It was insane.  I tried diligently to keep up with commenting on everyone’s posts, but it quickly proved impossible.

Over the years, the community activity has slowed down, picked up and slowed down again.  Recently, there has been an upswing in participation, and I have to tell you – it’s so awesome reading other people’s positive thoughts, and seeing them comment on the postings of others.  The feeling of support is amazing.

If you’re not familiar with Live Journal, it’s basically an online – well, journal.   It’s free.  I would like to urge you all to consider getting an LJ of your own and joining the Think Positive 30 Community and sharing your positive thoughts with others.  It’s a great tool for you, but it could also be a great opportunity to support somebody else in their search for a more positive self.
