Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success. If you love what you are doing, you will be successful. – Albert Schweitzer
There are people who believe that success is the key to happiness. They think if they have things they’re happy. It’s true that having things can make life EASIER but it doesn’t necessarily make it happier. True happiness comes when you love what your doing. When you get up in the morning, you can’t WAIT to go to work or do what you need to do, then you know you’re successful.
I used to have a job that I loved. I’d be sitting at my desk working and I felt like there was a symphony inside of my just trying to burst out of me. I smiled all day. It was truly the best job ever. Did I have a lot of things and did I make a lot of money? The answer to that was a redounding NO, but I was so HAPPY that I didn’t care that I didn’t have a brand new car and a beautiful house to live in. I had a car, I had a place to live and I had a job that I LOVED. I was so successful.
Times changed, the job changed, I was making more money, but I wasn’t happy any longer I wasn’t successful. Life changed and I changed. I’ve since made changes in my life and again I’m successful because I’m happy. If a giant raise comes my way, or I hit the lottery, that will be great and yes, life will be easier, but I won’t be any more successful than I am right this very second – and right this very second, I’m pretty darn successful because I’m incredibly happy with the person that I am.
