You’ve Got to Have a Plan

A good plan is like a road map: It shows the final destination and usually the best way to get there.~ H. Stanley Judd

I’m not the best planner in the world.  Too many times, I’ve found myself flying by the seat of my pants with semi disastrous results.  Other times, I’ve had a clearly defined plan, and generally the results were much better.  It’s kind of like when you go on a road trip, even if you don’t have a route mapped out, you generally have an end destination in mind.  Life is like that, having a clearly defined plan makes it so much easier to achieve your goal.

Granted, when Alexander Flemming discovered penicillin, he wasn’t trying too, but he was working on something, and he did have a plan.  The penicillin discovery was simply an added bonus.  Set the goal, develop the plan, and follow it.  If there are deviations that lead to bonuses all the better, but without that plan, that road map, chances are, you won’t be discovering all that much.
