You can live your life angry, bitter, mad at somebody or even guilty, not letting go of your own mistakes, but you won’t receive the good things God has in store.
– Joel Osteen
I shared this quote on facebook this morning, and somebody immediately criticized Joel Osteen for being a crook and having a huge home. I don’t dispute any of that. I realize that his reputation is slightly tarnished, but I made a choice, I liked the quote and I wanted to share it. No matter who he is, and what he’s done, there is still a powerful message in this quote. I made my choice, what will you choose?
It’s a life lesson, in my mind. You can choose to hang on to anger, jealousy and resentment. You can choose to hang on to the guilt you’re feeling for something that happened yesterday, or ten years ago. What will you choose? What will you choose? Will you hang on to all that stuff that is holding you back, or will you let it go and open yourself up to the amazing possibilities of the future?
I’m not going to lie, I am a great one for hanging on to past mistakes. I beat myself up over things that I did all the time. I’m also a pro at hanging on to resentment. I can hold a grudge with a capital G. But I don’t want to. I don’t like how it makes me feel, and I don’t like how it holds me back. So I constantly remind myself to let go. I made my choice, ,what will you choose?
