Look through the front windshield and not the rear view mirror. – Anonymous
As one of my facebook friends pointed out, you may miss the flashing blue lights if you do this, I’d say it’s worth the risk to look forward and not backward. Don’t get me wrong, I think we can learn a lot from history, and even more from our mistakes, but there is a huge difference between learning and obsessing.
If you spend all your time looking back at what was, your going to miss so many new and different opportunities. Think about it this way. If you’re so busy hanging on to a past love/old romance, you could miss the most wonderful new person who is poised to enter your life. The same goes with just about everything else in life. If your eyes are fixed firmly on the past, you’re going to miss what’s right in front of you.
And while I hope what’s right in front of you is something wonderful and amazing, it could also be a huge pitfall. You never know what the future is going to bring you, but unless you are looking forward and not backward, your either going to miss out on something amazing, or you could run the risk by being blindsided by something less that amazing.
The choice is yours. Which way are you going to look?
