Just Try And Stop Me – Challenge Day 11

Just Try And Stop Me by Tracie The question isn't who is going to let me; it's who is going to stop me.  - Ayn Rand I am totally loving this quote for a variety of reasons  First, it reminds me of the Queen song Don't Stop Me Now, and as far as I'm concerned, you can never go wrong with Queen. But more than that, it's a very powerful quote. If you adopt this mindset, and take charge of your life, you'll be able to accomplish anything.  Now I'm not saying this quote gives you the okay to ride rough-shod over anybody and everybody.  That's never acceptable in my mind.  What this quote is saying is that if you have a goal or a dream, go for it.  It's yours to pursue.  Don't ask for permission, and don't wait for someone to come up to you and say, "Hey, you.  Did you want to go grab that dream?  Why don't you just go for it? It's okay, I'll let you." The first step in the process is to figure out what it is you really want.  Dream your dream, set your goal, and craft the path you're going to …

Create Your Own Life Story – Challenge Day 10

Create Your Own Life Story by Tracie The people who get on in this world are the people who get up and look for the circumstances they want, and, if they can't find them, make them. - George Bernard Shaw How often do you find yourself complaining about life? You're not happy with your job, relationship, or the way things are going at home.  So what do you do about it?  If you're like me, you complain vociferously, lol.  I think, most of us tend to do that.  We complain, and react to what is happening.  Instead, we should be proactive.  There is a simple solution, though.  If the circumstances of your life aren't to your liking, change them. There are so many things you can do to change your circumstances. You can end a relationship that doesn't bring you pleasure, or if you don't want to end it, put some effort in with the other person and make it better.  If you don't like your job situation, change careers.  Take some classes, increase your skill set and look for something different. It's not rocket science.  All it takes is some forward thinking, and the biggie - courage! Don't sit…

Learn, Prepare, Live – Challenge Day 9

Learn, Prepare, Live by Tracie The past is behind, learn from it. The future is ahead, prepare for it. The present is here, live it. - Thomas S. Monson Yesterday was a very rough day. It was the first day back to school after my classroom, and the ones below me were flooded by a broken pipe.  I spent a lot of time this weekend, and yesterday beating myself up over what happened, and what I could have done to prevent it. Logically I know there isn't anything I could do to prevent what happened, I can only do two things.  I can live with the difficult situation that is school right now, and I can do what I can to make sure it happens again.  For me in that situation it means speaking up louder when I see something that could be a bad situation. The past is over, the only think you can do is learn from it. Look at what happened, figure out how and why, let it go and then move on.  The present is here, right now, and it's our duty to live in it as fully and completely as possible.  In fact, we should…

Define Yourself – Challenge Day 8

Define Yourself - Challenge Day 7 by Tracie The past does not define you, the present does. - Jillian Michaels Think back to when you were a little kiddo.  Who you were then is not who you are now.  That's the amazing thing about who we are.  We get to choose.  Your past is just that, it's your past.  If you don't like who you were, then you get to change it and be the person you want to become.  It may not be easy, but if you want it bad enough, you can do it. There are so many people who don't get that.  They think that they're stuck in the same place and nothing will ever change that.  The make their present a mirror image of their past.  I say break the mirror, and create a new present.  It can be anything you want.  You can do it. You have the power.  You don't have to limit yourself to your past, and you can craft your new future. Are you participating in the 30 day positivity challenge?  If so, sound off in the comments and share your positive thoughts and what this quote is saying to you.  Or…

Be Yourself not Somebody Else – Challenge Day 7

Be Yourself not Somebody Else - Challenge Day 7 Tracie Always be a first-rate version of yourself, instead of a second-rate version of somebody else.~ Judy Garland   Every day when we wake up, we start our day with a myriad of choices.  What to wear, how to do our hair, what make-up to wear if you're female, shaving if you're male, and what to eat for breakfast.  That's in the first hour of our day.  And we think decisions that we make are all our own.  But they're not.  You are pressured every hour of every day not to be yourself, but to be like everybody else.  Right now, long straight hair is the fashion for women, so if you look around, most of the women you see will have long straight hair.  Not too long ago, eggs were supposed to be bad for us, so you didn't see many people eating eggs for breakfast, or any other meal for that matter. We are pushed, pulled, prodded and molded into being like everybody else.  And while our individuality is being squashed out of us, people say "be yourself."  I was watching the movie The Devil Wear's Prada the other…

Share Your Dreams – Challenge Day 6

A dream you dream alone is only a dream. A dream you dream together becomes reality. - John Lennon So this is going to seem rather round about and convoluted, but just hang in there for a few minutes.  It had been bitterly cold where I live, and at my school, a pipe to the sink in my classroom froze.  We had no school today because of a blizzard, a blizzard that came right after the temperature rose just a bit. Well I got a call this morning from my principal telling me that the pipe burst and my classroom was a mess.  Needless to say I headed into school only to find that my principal was wrong, it wasn't a mess, it was a disaster area.  And as bad as my room was, the room of the teacher below me was even worse because the water had to go some place, and that place was down. I'll be 100% honest, my negativity was off the chart, and I forgot everything I ever knew about thinking positive and finding a positive in the what was a very negative situation.  I literally couldn't think of a single solitary positive thing about…

Reach for the Stars – Challenge Day 5

Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars and change the world. - Harriet Tubman I was fortunate enough to listen to a webinar on manifesting big in 2018 by author and coach Kathryn Alice. In it she told lots of great stories about people that she'd worked with and what they manifested, and she talked about her upcoming course the 2018 Blueprint. She also gave some great tips on how to manifest things quickly.  At the start of the webinar, she had us list four things we wanted to manifest, and people, myself included gave pretty generic answers of money, love, new home or new job.  Guess what, that's not good enough.  If you're going to dream, dream big.  Give your dream details.  Make them come alive in your mind.  Get as specific as heck.  Don't just dream about a house, dream about YOUR house.  Where is it located? How is it furnished?  Get as detailed as possible.  Don't get caught up in the how you're going to get all those things, just create your perfect house in your mind.  Same think…

You Have the Power – Challenge Day 4

No matter what people may tell you, words and ideas can change the world. - Robin Williams Such profound words from such a funny man.  Funny, but very insightful.  Think for a second about Robin Williams.  In his far too short a life, he made us laugh and cry.  He influenced us in so many ways.  His many roles as an actor and comedian touched us in so many ways.  I grew up with him saying "I am Mork from Ork. Nano Nano." I say him in theaters  screaming out "Good morning Vietnam," teaching prep school boys to love poetry, revisiting Neverland as an adult Peter Pan, saving Aladdin as the Genie and being the worlds best nanny as Mrs. Doubtfire. I know, I know you're probably thinking that Robin Williams was famous.  He was in the movies, and on television.  He may have influenced the world, but that's because everybody knows his name.  And while that is true, it is also true that we all have within us, that same ability to change the world.  It all starts with you.  Every change you make in your life impacts the people around you, enacting change in them.  That impacts the…

It’s Up to You – Challenge Day 3

Only I can change my life.  No one can do it for me. - Carol Burnett I was watching my local news tonight and there was yet another story about the horrible opioid epidemic that is sweeping our nation.  It's a topic that has touched me personally, as well as just about all the students I work with.  I do not know of anybody who has not been negatively impacted by this epidemic in one way or another.  I really wish I could just wave a magic wand and make it all better.  But there is no magic wand and there is no making it all better.  A friend of mine mentioned of facebook one time that perhaps it would be beneficial if when a first time user is arrested if they were forced into rehab.  In my mind, that's a waste because unless they want to break their cycle of addiction, rehab will never work.  All change is like that, the person making the change has to want it for themselves.  Change is hard and scary because you're looking at yourself and saying "I need to fix this about myself."  You have to do it for you.  You can't…

Oh the Potential! Challenge Day 2

And now we welcome the new year. Full of things that have never been. - Rainer Maria Rilkie I promise, this is the last new year quote!  It's just that even though I hate resolutions, I can't help but think about the potential during this time of year.  We've welcomed in the new year, and we've recovered from the holiday season and from the parties, and now it's time to begin.  Begin what?  Well that's just it, we have the potential to begin anything!  It can be a diet, a healthy lifestyle, the starting of a new hobby, an new job search, getting your finances in order  - anything.  The potential to start something new is right there waiting for you to take the chance. So what do you think you're going to do to welcome in this new year?  Are you going to find something new to try?  Or maybe revisit something you tried in the past?  The choice is yours, but don't ignore the possibilities that are out there.  Personally, I'm not trying a never been, but I am revisiting something that I've tried before.  I'm hoping I'll be successful this time, but if not, I'll just keep…
