Test of Courage

I love listening to my students talk about how tough they are – to them, tough means brave.  They think they’re all that if they walk down a street in a sketchy area at night.  They haven’t learned what real courage is yet, or if they have, they certainly haven’t exhibited it yet.  Real courage is not giving up in the face of adversity.  Real courage is never giving up, no matter how hard something is.  Trying again and again, no matter how many times you get shot down.  Real courage is that inner strength we have to grab on to and hold tight when we’re faced with insurmountable odds.  It’s not easy, but it’s so worth it.
