Who I Am

Just a little bit of a different post because school closed early due to a snow storm :)  I've been doing this for almost 9 years now, and I've share a little bit about myself, but if you want to get a better insight into who I am, please feel free to check out my personal blog, Well Color Me... It's my ramblings on the world in general and my life in particular.

About the Daily Positive Thought

Well - I sent out the first Daily Positive Thought with the new program for this morning, and I had a lot of email bounces, and i'm thinking quite a few didn't get delivered because I didn't get my copy :( I'm going to keep trying, and trying different mailing programs that are free.  The program I tried allows me to send out 15000 emails a month.  I stupidly assumed that was plenty.  I didn't realize that  each person on the mailing list would count as 1 emai, so I've already set out over 500 emails.  I feel stupid lol.  I did get the PO Box, and I'm still accepting donations to help defray the costs.  For those of you reading this on Live Journal, the donate button can be found on the think positive 30 website http://www.thinkpositive30.com I really want to keep the mailing list going, but if I can't, I can't.  There are great programs like aweber and constant contact for mailing lists, but those are incredibly expensive, and since I don't do any serious markting on the website, there is no way to offset the costs unless people are willing to donate - and so far, people…

Figuring it Out

No cheerful quote today, no inspirational post, just some thoughts.  Many years ago, well just over 6, a wonderful friend and I were talking about how blah our lives were.  She had made a decision to post one positive thought a day in her live journal for a month.  I decided to take it one step further and create a live journal community called Think Positive 30. For a while, it was really cool. We were posting, and then Live Journal made us a spotlight community and the community EXPLODED. People were posting left and right. It was great, but a bit overwhelming because I was determined to respond to every post. From there came a very poor website with very little content. Over time, content was added and deleted and the website got a little more organized thanks to Wordpress. I also added a mailing list which allowed people to receive a "Daily Positive Thought" via email. It was quite nice. There were a few people on the mailing list, and I got up every morning and emailed the thought via a free program provided by my web host called PHPList. The list started growing, and while this was…

Very Important – Please Read and Respond

Hi, As you may, or may not know, the Daily Positive Thought started out as an email.  I added this website, and I also tweet the Daily Positive Thought on Twitter.  Because of restrictions by my webhost. the Daily Positive Thought must be sent out between the hours of 1:00 a.m. and 4:00 a.m.  In the past, the software was configured to do this automatically, and life was good.  However since there has been an update, it no longer runs automatically.  This means I have to get up every morning at 1:00 and manually send the email.  There is a way to program the software to run it automatically, but I don't have the skill or the knowledge to do it, nor do I have the money to pay someone to do it.  There are other email lists like constant contact, but they cost money, and this is not a money making venture, and I don't want it to be a money spending venture either. I have to be honest, it's getting  a bit old (well I'm getting old lol, it's getting very tiring).  The long and short of it is, I am considering discontinuing the mailing list.  There are…

Cool things are Forthcoming!

Hi everybody,   Things have been mighty quiet here on the website portion of Think Positive 30.  I've been using this summer to reflect upon a lot of things, and to make some plans. I'm always looking for ways to bring a smile to my face, because when you're smiling and happy, you are more positive.  I'm also always thinking of ways I can bring a smile to others for the exact same reason. Well, I've come up with something, and I think it is going to be amazing.  Hopefully you all will think it is amazing as well.  Stay tuned, because once things get put in motion, it's going to happen fast.

My Own Personal Thoughts and Growth

I was  reading this post over at The Daily Love, and it was like getting hit over the head with an anvil a la Wile E. Coyote and the Road Runner.  Parts of it were like reading my own life story.  Think Positive 30 started out on Live Journal.  One of my dear friends and I were kvetching about how miserable our lives were and she commented that she was feeling really negative.  To compensate, she was going to post one positive thought a day in her LJ.  I thought it was an amazing idea and I made a community on Live Journal called Think Positive 30.  I figured there were probably other people that felt that way.  The community was small (very small).  It’s concept was post a positive thought for 30 consecutive days and get in the habit of thinking or finding positive things in your day.  Then we got made a spotlight community on Live Journal and membership EXPLODED.  I used to try and comment on everybody’s posts and be supportive, but when we were spotlighted, it stopped being fun and became hard work. (more…)

A Small Disclaimer of sorts

Hi Everyone, I was about to post a great email I received from one of the many self-help email lists I subscribe.  I don't have a problem sharing these emails and I always give credit.  The thing is most of these people are sending these emails because they have something to say, something to promote and something to sell.  Again, I don't have a problem with this.  Honestly, I want all of you to buy my book when and if I ever finish it.  I just want to tell people up front that I have not tried any of these programs and I'm not endorsing them.  I bet their great programs, and if I do try any of them, I'll be certain to share that with you.  I just wanted to be clear that I'm not endorsing any programs, and just want to share their very positive, uplifting emails.

I Need to ask a Favor

About half way down this page, on the left, you'll see a widget for NETWORKED BLOGS.  If you could just click on the FOLLOW US button, that would be a HUGE help to me.  The more followers we have means the quicker our blog posts will update on facebook.  Thanks so much and have a fantastic and amazing weekend filled with positive thoughts

Tweaks and Updates

I made some design changes to the website.  I'm not at all sure that it's what I want yet, but I'm happy to be moving in a more positive direction with the website.  If anybody has any ideas, suggestions or comments, please let me know.
