Pretty Simple Advice, Really.

Follow your dreams, believe in yourself and don’t give up. – Rachel Corrie

When I pick out the quotes on Sunday, I read them (of course) and try to think about what they mean, and if they are something I can blog about.  Sometimes I find really amazing quotes that are super powerful and really motivating but I can’t, for the life of me, blog about.  I’ll still share the quote because I think it’s a good quote.  Then there was this quote.  it’s a great quote, but it’s not an in your face super powerful kind of quote.  It just is what it is, and what it is, is a credo by which to live.

This is NOT rocket science – follow your dreams, believe in yourself and never give up.  But I wonder, how many of us are really doing that.  How many of us can say with any great certainty that they’re following their dreams.  I am, but I’m not.  I love teaching, I love my job, but I’ve always wanted to write.  But I don’t.  Not with any regularity, or with any faith in my ability to craft the written word.  I blog, sure, but there was a time in my life when I wrote constantly and I just don’t any longer.  I decided somewhere along the line that I wasn’t any good and it wasn’t ever going to amount to anything so why bother?  I stopped believing in my dream, I stopped having faith in myself and my ability and I gave up.  I wonder how many others have done just the same?

I’m going to be kind of hypocritical here and say not to give up on yourself.  Keep reaching for your dream and believing that you will achieve it.  And, if you’ve joined the quitters club like I have, try and find a way to capture your dream again, or to discover a new one.
