Figuring it Out

No cheerful quote today, no inspirational post, just some thoughts.  Many years ago, well just over 6, a wonderful friend and I were talking about how blah our lives were.  She had made a decision to post one positive thought a day in her live journal for a month.  I decided to take it one step further and create a live journal community called Think Positive 30. For a while, it was really cool. We were posting, and then Live Journal made us a spotlight community and the community EXPLODED. People were posting left and right. It was great, but a bit overwhelming because I was determined to respond to every post. From there came a very poor website with very little content. Over time, content was added and deleted and the website got a little more organized thanks to Wordpress. I also added a mailing list which allowed people to receive a "Daily Positive Thought" via email. It was quite nice. There were a few people on the mailing list, and I got up every morning and emailed the thought via a free program provided by my web host called PHPList. The list started growing, and while this was…

If You Don’t have ____, You Don’t Have Anything – Chris Cade

by Chris Cade There's a lot of ways that people fill in that blank. Some words that may come to mind are: Love Money Passion Family Friends Health Dreams One might even go so far as to say if you don't have ALL of those things, you're living a life "half" lived. The thing is, while all of those are necessary to life a deeply fulfilling life... one that is abundant in every way, that's not what I want to share about today. "Fulfillment comes from being in a state of living your passion." – Jack Canfield See, there's one thing – that if you don't have it– all of your efforts in EVERY one of those areas will fall short. What is that thing? Integrity. No, I'm not talking about what most people refer to as integrity. Integrity is not about whether or not other people in the world think you are acting with kindness or that they think they can trust you. Integrity means to be integrated. It means that the aspects of yourself, within yourself, are working together as a whole regardless of who may or may not be watching. In this way, integrity gives us a…

An Invitation to You

Think Positive 30 started on Live Journal. A friend and I decided to try and post at least one positive thought a day in our journals. I thought it was a great idea and created a Live Journal Community so that others would have an opportunity to do the same.  The community was created, and pretty much nothing happened.  A few of my friends and myself would post our positive thoughts and comment on the positive thoughts of others.  Then Live Journal featured Think Positive 30 as a Spotlight community and things went crazy.  Hundreds of people were posting every day.  It was insane.  I tried diligently to keep up with commenting on everyone's posts, but it quickly proved impossible. Over the years, the community activity has slowed down, picked up and slowed down again.  Recently, there has been an upswing in participation, and I have to tell you - it's so awesome reading other people's positive thoughts, and seeing them comment on the postings of others.  The feeling of support is amazing. If you're not familiar with Live Journal, it's basically an online - well, journal.   It's free.  I would like to urge you all to consider getting an…

My Own Personal Thoughts and Growth

I was  reading this post over at The Daily Love, and it was like getting hit over the head with an anvil a la Wile E. Coyote and the Road Runner.  Parts of it were like reading my own life story.  Think Positive 30 started out on Live Journal.  One of my dear friends and I were kvetching about how miserable our lives were and she commented that she was feeling really negative.  To compensate, she was going to post one positive thought a day in her LJ.  I thought it was an amazing idea and I made a community on Live Journal called Think Positive 30.  I figured there were probably other people that felt that way.  The community was small (very small).  It’s concept was post a positive thought for 30 consecutive days and get in the habit of thinking or finding positive things in your day.  Then we got made a spotlight community on Live Journal and membership EXPLODED.  I used to try and comment on everybody’s posts and be supportive, but when we were spotlighted, it stopped being fun and became hard work. It’s all a Lie

At least that's what I've been feeling like lately.  Every week, I set up the mailing list to send out the Daily Positive Thoughts.  I queue them up on Twitter, and I write the blog posts, and set them up so they also go to our Live Journal Community.  I look for the quotes to use, and I try to keep the website running well as well as make it interesting and easy to navigate.  This was all in an effort to maintain a positive attitude, and hopefully help other people to feel more positive as well.  Right now, I'm starting to think that it's all pointless and the whole be positive, Law of Attraction stuff is just a lie, a big pile of nothingness that was put together in order to make other people money. That's exactly how I was feeling.  I didn't feel like my Daily Positive Thoughts were helping anybody, and they certainly weren't helping me.  To me, they'd become nothing more than a chore.  And as far as the whole Law of Attraction thing went, well it just wasn't happening for me.  I'd done what the books said.  I put my wants and desires out there…

The Power of a Positive Thought

So today, I'm feeling really glum, but that's okay.  You know why?  Because moods are moods - they pass.  It's very simple really.  I can choose to sit here, and feel glum and dwell on my sad mood, OR, I can look at my day, and at my life and find the good in it and CELEBRATE.  What?  You don't think you have any good in your life?  Of course you do.  You're alive!  That's a biggie and not one to be underestimated!  It's a sunny summer day, I have lots of great friends.  See there are lots of great things upon which to focus.  So instead of sitting her dwelling on the glumness I'm going to go out and look for the positives.  Would you care to join me? Come celebrate your postiveness at our livejournal community located here

The Birth of a Community

In order for any of this to make any sense at all, you’re going to need a little back story.  It really all starts with a television program that was on the air about ten years ago.  It wasn’t a hit show, it wasn’t critically acclaimed, but what it did do was introduce me to some of the most wonderful people I have ever known.

The first season this show was on the air, I quickly became enamored of it, and turned to the new toy in my house, the internet, to find other people who also liked this show.  I did, and it was quite possibly the smartest thing I’ve ever done.  I “met,” online, a group of people who have become an integral part of my life.  We’ve been there for each other through marriages and divorces, births and deaths and everything else that goes along with life.  Some of us have met in person, some are just a name on a computer screen, but all of us are friends.
