You have to remember, fear is not real. It is a product of the thoughts you create. Don't misunderstand me. Danger is very real. But fear is a choice. - Will Smith So when I read this quote, I wasn't super sure about how I felt about it. Fear is a choice? What the heck does that even mean? How do you create fear? Then, of course, I thought about it, and it all made perfect sense. Fear is a choice. I'm not talking, the feeling you get when you're walking down a dark street alone in the middle of the night. That's danger, and that's different. And I'm not talking about the feeling you get after watching Blair Witch, or a Friday the 13th marathon. That's scaring yourself sh*tless. I'm talking about the fear that stops you from doing things and that comes from listening to the self-doubt that fills your head. That isn't real...well the feelings are real, but they don't have to be. You need to shut off the self-doubt. Don't make the choice to feel the fear. Don't give into the self-doubt that fills your head when you want to try something new or make a…
The seeds of discouragement, cannot take root in a grateful heart - Joel Osteen I love it when quotes I pick out in advance work for the day I'm having. Well this one works for my yesterday, but hey, close enough, right? I was literally heartbroken when I found all my websites gone. After a quick hook up with my hosting company, they got two of them back. One site, my personal blog, where I rant and rave, however was missing. They said they'd restore it from a back up, so off to bed I went. Well this morning, I received an email saying no luck :( Now here is where the quote works. I thought I'd be destroyed by this, but I'm not. They were able to restore this site, which is the one that is the most important to me, and they were able to restore my other site, where my friends and I communicate. For that, I am extremely grateful! So now, instead of being discouraged, I'm looking upon this as an opportunity to revamp my personal blog. I can do whatever I want with it. Yeah I had a few posts on it that were important,…
One who gains strength by overcoming obstacles possesses the only strength which can overcome adversity. - Albert Schweitzer I was looking at this quote this morning, and my immediate thought was I disagree, but as always, then I started to think. Obstacles are adversity and if you overcome them, then you obviously have the strength to do so. But how do you initially find your strength? Every day, you're faced with adversity and obstacles. Some may be big, and some are very small, but regardless of their size, they are there. It's how you deal with them that help you to find your strength. Look at your obstacles and tackle them head on. Ask for help if necessary, because in my mind, knowing that you need help is a sign of strength. I think that the strength comes when you face your obstacles head on. Know what you are able to do, ask for help when needed and conquer the obstacles that life tosses at you. Every time you do, you find your strength to move forward and master what comes next.
IEP season got me like AHHHHHH.....sorry people.....I'm being responsible. Work first blog posts later :(
Sorry everyone - I had to leave my school today to go to an IEP meeting across the city, and then when I got back it was work work work...I'll post today and tomorrow's blog posts on Friday!
Just a little bit of a different post because school closed early due to a snow storm :) I've been doing this for almost 9 years now, and I've share a little bit about myself, but if you want to get a better insight into who I am, please feel free to check out my personal blog, Well Color Me... It's my ramblings on the world in general and my life in particular.
If you really do put a small value upon yourself, rest assured that the world will not raise your price. - anonymous You have to believe in yourself, and value yourself, and toot your own horn. Nobody is going to do those things for you if you can't do it for yourself? If you believe in yourself and value yourself, you'll find that others will as well!
The most important thing to do if you find yourself in a hole, is to stop digging. - Warren Buffett What can I even say about this other than, well DUH!!!! Except, often (at least for me) I will get into a difficult situation, and in trying to fix it, I often find that I've made it worse. I realize that you can't do NOTHING, but there is nothing wrong with taking a step back and re-evaluating the situation before you continue. If you're playing a game of dodgeball, generally, you'd just react. You see the ball coming and you duck. Just reacting works in dodgeball, but it doesn't often work in life. Take a second to step back and figure out what's going on. Then you can figure out how to get out of that hole you're in.
