If You Don’t have ____, You Don’t Have Anything – Chris Cade

by Chris Cade There's a lot of ways that people fill in that blank. Some words that may come to mind are: Love Money Passion Family Friends Health Dreams One might even go so far as to say if you don't have ALL of those things, you're living a life "half" lived. The thing is, while all of those are necessary to life a deeply fulfilling life... one that is abundant in every way, that's not what I want to share about today. "Fulfillment comes from being in a state of living your passion." – Jack Canfield See, there's one thing – that if you don't have it– all of your efforts in EVERY one of those areas will fall short. What is that thing? Integrity. No, I'm not talking about what most people refer to as integrity. Integrity is not about whether or not other people in the world think you are acting with kindness or that they think they can trust you. Integrity means to be integrated. It means that the aspects of yourself, within yourself, are working together as a whole regardless of who may or may not be watching. In this way, integrity gives us a…

Let Go and Let God – Chris Cade

by Chris Cade We've all heard the phrase, "Let Go and Let God." What I find interesting is how different people interpret this differently. For example, one person might interpret it as this: "I feel helpless. I don't know what to do. I can't do anything else. I've done all I can do... or at least all I want to do. I'll defer my authority to  somebody or something else and just do my best to accept whatever consequences may happen." This latter example is somebody who lacks authentic power. That person believes (consciously and subconsciously) that they are unable to affect change in the world. Often people in this mindset see things as happening "to" them rather than happening "for" them. They adopt a victim mentality because their feelings of helplessness disable them from seeing themselves accurately. And by extension, they are unable to see reality accurately. Another way to interpret is this: "I've done my best. Worrying won't help the situation and it won't make me feel any better. I'll let it go now and trust that whatever happens is for the highest good." This is an example of somebody who lives in his or her authentic power.…

What Inspires You When Nothing Else Can? – Chris Cade

My friend Jaime Mintun recently posted on her blog, "What Inspires You When Nothing Else Can?" I got to thinking about that question rather seriously, and what I discovered was interesting. The spirit of the question was intended as "When you can't get yourself going, what do you do to get going?" Inspirational quotes, thoughts, videos, poems, stories, etc. And while I use those on a regular basis, if we don't take them in fully, they become just more platitudes and cliches for false positive thinking (like my recent email, "The LIE about positive thinking.") In my serious discovery, I decided to take the question further and explore it from a "Dark Night of the Soul" perspective. In other words, what can we do when we experience life as so beyond miserable that NOTHING else can inspire us? The answer surprised me... When *nothing* else can, only 1 thing works: entertaining distraction. That's because when life seems miserable, your mind is so consumed by a negative state that it can't even recognize there's a positive aspect to the world. This negativity becomes a habit so bound to your psychological state that it can only be broken by completely severing your connection to…

Four Simple Steps to Success

by Chris cade That may sound overly simplistic, but it's true. Just four simple steps will guarantee success in any aspect of life. All you have to do is... Know what you really want (your goals) Take action towards your goals Notice what results you're getting Correct your course whenever you notice things are not working Of course like any great spiritual truth, knowing the steps is easy. Living them... not so much. For example: How do you figure out what you really want? And what if you're finding it difficult to take action? Or even worse, taking the wrong kinds of actions towards your goals? My personal experience is that the above steps correlate with very specific aspects of our development. Knowing your desires comes from self awareness Taking action happens naturally when self-sabotaging subconscious blockages have been removed Noticing results comes again from self awareness Correcting course happens naturally when self-sabotaging subconscious blockages have been removed In other words, you can sum up success into two basic principles: Cultivate self-awareness and remove subconscious blockages that cause you to sabotage your own best-efforts.

How to Stop Getting Burned – Chris Cade

by Chris Cade This last week I've been sick, and after being down for a day I finally had my hunger back. Armed with a bowl of freshly made vegetable broth pasta (thanks Mom!), I joyously scooped my first spoonful. Then felt that "oops" sensation of the top of my mouth and tastebuds burned. Despite my ravenous hunger, I cautiously waited a minute before scooping again. Apparently though, I wasn't cautious enough. "Oops" again. It took me a few times before I finally figured out to wait a little bit longer. But by then it was too late. In reflecting on my experience, I am reminded of this *famous quote: "Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results." Yes, my hunger blinded me. I became insane with the insatiable hunger of being energy deprived from my illness. When I started to feel somewhat human again, I realized something interesting. Our impatience is one of the most frequent reasons we get burned in life. Whether it's a burn from a relationship gone bad, an unwanted habit that prevents us from living as full as we're capable of, an employee who delivers poor performance, an employer…

The Lie About Positive Thinking – Chris Cade

by Chris Cade You've heard it all before... "Think more positively and you'll get what you want. Visualize, affirm, and manifestation will happen effortlessly. Oh and be sure to overcome those pesky limiting beliefs! Affirmations, gratitude, and positive thinking will cover that one for you. Life is easy if you just think positively enough!" I have one word to say about that kind of positive thinking... LIE. Delusional. Misleading. Uninformed. Detrimental. Okay, so by the time my subconscious was done ranting I discovered I had more than just one word. :) That's not to say positive thinking is bad. It's fundamentally important to living a happy, fulfilled, engaged life. However, the lie and myth is that positive thinking is all that's needed. The reality is that we have difficult and painful emotions for a reason. They arise out of a self-protective compassionate need to SERVE our selves more effectively. Like physical pain, emotional pain is a compass that helps us see when things aren't quite working right inside ourselves. When we ignore physical pain or mask it over with overmedication, our body degenerates and ultimately finds more pain (not less). The same is true when we use Positive Thinking as a form of "overmedication"…

The Truth Walk – Chris Cade

by Chris Cade As Morpheus says in The Matrix, "There's a difference between knowing the path and walking the path." This is the greatest challenge any of us have on the path of personal transformation. How do we live what we believe to be true? The first step is fundamental to my teachings: Don't take anybody's word for it. Not even mine. Find out what is true for yourself. Sure, it helps to have insights and pointers. Programs, videos, emails, audio interviews, live seminars, and so on are wonderful ways to get closer to people who have discovered the Truths that you want to embody. Still, all of those are... pointers. Only you can "walk" the path as Morpheus says. With that in mind, here's a quick exercise I call "The Truth Walk" to help you discover what is actually true for you. It's rather simple, and you can do it anytime and every time you're walking. Here's how it works. First, bring into your awareness a spiritual Truth or lesson you'd like to embody more fully. I think that Dan Millman's "Laws of Spirit" and Deepak Chopra's "7 Spiritual Laws of Success" (and "7 Spiritual Laws Of Superheros") are…

What is Helplessness – Chris Cade

Chris Cade Nobody likes to feel helpless. It is probably most frequently avoided human emotion. People push themselves beyond their limits as well as fall into deep depression just to avoid feeling helpless. The thing about it is this... Helplessness, like all other difficult emotions, is a gateway to deeper wisdom and greater inner freedom. Sure it may not seem like that. After all, we try to avoid it! But it's only when we stop avoiding our feelings of helplessness that we can discover those inner gifts contained within. Here's how I define (REFRAME) helplessness: "Helplessness is a sign that your Inner Critic believes you 'should' do more than the Universe needs you to do in a particular situation." Your Partner In Transformation, Chris Cade Liberate Your Life P.S. I thought about explaining the idea above, but I decided not to. Instead, I figure it's best to let you explore it for yourself... even if part of that exploration includes the possibility that you might feel helpless. A Spell to Make the Unseen – Seen – Chris Cade

by Chris Cade I'm writing this while watching Narnia: Voyage of the Dawn Treader with my son. The current scene is where several invisible characters are telling a girl to remember a "spell that makes the unseen... seen." And it got me to thinking, what exactly does that mean? In the context of the movie, the answer is simple: It's a spell that makes invisible people become visible. What I find interesting is how it relates to our daily lives. For example: How often do our thoughts go unexamined? Reactions and historical conditioning drive the majority of our lives. That quick snap judgment without knowing the full situation, a moment of anger when we lack the full picture, eating the same meal day after day and driving the same path to work, and replaying the same relationship dynamics with each new partner... All examples of unexamined thoughts directing our actions. In a way, you could think of those thoughts as "unseen." The benefits are that we don't have to think as much. To the Inner Critic and our egos, life seems "easier" this way. That isn't necessarily true. It's just more "comfortable" to the unseen aspects of our subconscious minds.…

Harnessing the Power of the Seer – Chris Cade

by Chris Cade I really like the word "Seer." Most commonly, a Seer is defined as somebody (often described as a "prophet") "to whom divine revelations are made." In other words, they see what others cannot. World-changing visionaries throughout history have been referred to as "Seers" whenever they predicted the future with a degree of better-than-average accuracy. But what really enables them to have that capacity? Are some people born more capable of being a Seer than others? Are some of us destined to remain in the dark while others like Edgar Cayce spout off divine revelations in their sleep? While I can't answer any of those questions (sorry to lead you on!), what I can say is that I find another definition of "Seer" to be quite interesting: It's root is "See." A "Seer" is anybody who "sees." In a literal definition, that's about eyes. Yet I don't think anybody would doubt that Helen Keller could "see." Some might argue she saw better than those people who had eyes. She had to. Without eyes, her other senses were forced to become much more highly attuned. Her brain had to function in a fundamentally different way so that she could…
