Time to Relax

Take time to have a cup of tea, put your feet up or do nothing – downtime can work wonders. We  live in such a busy time.  We're always on the go.  Our children have schedules that are as jam packed as that of any adult.  Even when we relax, a lot of us do it by exercising, or doing some type of arts and crafts type of activity such as knitting or scrap booking, or even surfing on the computer.  How often do we just sit, and do nothing.  Sit with our feet up and a cup of tea in our hands, or sit out in the sun and watching the birds fly by? Why not try it, just take some time and sit back and relax and do nothing.  I'm not suggesting that you ignore things that need to be done, but somewhere, in your schedule there is something that can be delayed for a time while you take time for yourself.  Maybe the dishes won't get washed right away, or the laundry will sit in the dryer for a little bit longer.  It's okay, get rid of those misplaced feelings of guilt that are plaguing you and…

We are Shaped by our Thoughts

We are molded by our thoughts. Those whose minds are shaped by selfless thoughts give joy when they speak or act. How we think, and how we feel determines who we are at any given moment. If we're in a bad mood and thinking all kinds of negative thoughts, we're going to give off a negative vibe to the world.  If you are thinking happy positive thoughts, and in a good mood, you project an image of happiness to the world.  The good thing about this, and important thing to remember is that our moods change.  You're going to be in a cranky mood once in a while.  It happens.  Don't let it get you down.  Do what you need to do to get yourself back into a happy frame of mind.  Acknowledge the fact that you're in a bad mood, figure out why and how to spin it so you find the positive in the situation.  Soon enough you'll be back in your happy space and projecting your aura of happiness to the world.  Do it often enough and the happiness will become a habit that shapes who you are.

Dreams Come True

Today is a brand new chance to make your dreams come true. Grab the opportunity. Dreams are a wonderful thing. To me, they're like food for the soul, and without them, you'd surely starve. But so many people think their dreams are out of reach. But they're not - they're really not. We, each one of us, have the power to make our dreams come true. Every day is a new opportunity to make those dreams come true. Just reach deep inside of yourself and take a chance. Take that first step toward your dream. It's hard and it's scary, but there isn't anything more rewarding.

Dancing in the Rain

Daily Positive Thought: Life is not about waiting for the storms to pass...it's about learning how to dance in the rain. Life is not all sunbeams and rainbows. I wish it were, I really do, but it isn't. Life is rain storms, and blizzards AND sunbeams and rainbows. There are good times and there are bad times and there are in between times. What's important is how you deal with the less than stellar times. So what if it's raining - go out and play in the rain. I bet you haven't done that since you were a child. Remember how fun it was? Try it again, and recapture a bit of your childhood and make a fun time out of it, and most of all, make the best of what life gives you.

Try Something New

There is no better time to try something new than right now. What are you going to try? What are you going to succeed in doing? I am a queen of procrastination. I put everything off until the last possible second, and because I struggle to get everything done, I don't get to DO anything. And by do, I'm talking about trying something new. There are so many things out there to try and do. Maybe it's skydiving, or learning how to knit, or ride a motorcycle. Whatever it is, why not just take the time to try something new - expand your horizons and expand your life

A Small Act of Kindness

One small act of kindness can make a huge difference. Make a difference! Did you ever notice how one small thing can make a difference in your day? Maybe you find $5.00 in your pocket, or a shirt that you misplaced. Something like that can totally make your day. Now imagine causing that feeling in somebody else. Maybe you open a door for somebody who has their arms full, or you let somebody go ahead of you in line at the grocery store. It's the little things that can make such a HUGE difference in the life of somebody else. Be the person that makes the difference. Not only will it make their day, it'll make your day as well.

Your Opinion Matters

Evaluate yourself by your own standards, not someone else’s. The only opinion of you that should matter, is your own. Many of us get caught up in what other people think and push aside our own thoughts and opinions in order to conform with others. I think, it's at it's absolute worst when we're in school. We all strive to fit in with others. We dress the same, act the same, like the same things and hate the same things. It's not however limited to school. Even as adults, we can find ourselves conforming to what others think is better, or doing things the way others think things ought to be done. Don't discount your own thoughts, and opinions, they matter, YOU matter. Stay true to who you are.

Attitude

Attitude is the pallet and brush of the mind, so use it to color the situation the way YOU choose.  Be positive! We talk about it all the time here. Attitude. It truly does color everything you do. I hate housework. I hate it with a passion probably equal to the strength of two nuclear bombs. But it has to be done. I have a coupe of choices. I can do it and complain the entire time. In the end, I'll have a clean house, but a crappy mood. Or I can do it, and find pleasure in joy in making my house look better and take satisfaction in a job well done. Either way, I'm getting the house clean, but if I have a better attitude while I'm doing it, I'll probably do a better job and I'll be happier when it's done. So take your attitude and use it to shape, and color the world the way YOU want it.

Talent for Happiness

Everyone has a talent for happiness – even you! So even if you don’t feel it, ACT as if you do. Joy is infectious, so go spread some. Moods, like colds and yawns are contagious. Have you ever noticed that when you're with a bunch of people who are happy and having a good time, your mood improves. The same if you're with a bunch of angry, cranky people. You can feel yourself being sucked in to their bad mood. So basically, you always want to be in a good mood. I know, sometimes, that's just not possible. I get it. I have moods and I get moody too. What I try and do when that happens is to think about good things and happy things - anything to try and improve my mood. And I'll ACT like I'm in a happier mood. Because if I'm going to be all contagious and spread my mood, I'd rather spread happy, not cranky. Try it!
